From her bed at Concordia Hospital, Manitoba veteran Rosanne Milburn and her husband Dan shared their heartbreaking story with the Winnipeg Sun. Readers are encouraged to watch the exclusive video interview online to hear Rosanne’s thoughts firsthand.
Rosanne’s ordeal began after complications from surgery at the Health Sciences Centre left her with an open wound. For three days, she waited for a hospital bed that never came, despite assurances from staff and repeated attempts by her husband to get help. The delay led to a devastating outcome—Rosanne’s leg had to be amputated.
Rosanne described the physical and emotional toll. “I never want this to happen to anybody else,” she said, her voice steady but heavy with emotion. The couple has already contacted a lawyer and plans to take legal action in the new year.
When asked about a TikTok video posted by Health Minister Uzoma Asagwara during the crisis, Roseanne said she had just watched it and expressed deep hurt and disbelief. “I will never be able to dance again,” she said.
Dan initially chose not to show Rosanne the video, fearing it would crush her spirits, but his frustration was evident. “The video shows she doesn’t take her job seriously. It was unprofessional and disrespectful,” he said.
The Milburns also refuted claims that anyone has attempted to contact them. Nobody has contacted us,” Dan confirmed, adding to their sense of neglect and abandonment.
The couple is determined to seek accountability and change. “People are going to have to pay,” Dan said. They are committed to seeking answers not just for them but for everyone who has suffered like them. Their story highlights the failures in Manitoba’s healthcare system, but Rosanne remains hopeful that sharing her experience will lead to improvements.
“We need to make sure this never happens to another family,” Rosanne said. “This isn’t just my story—it’s about all Manitobans who deserve better.”
The Winnipeg Sun will continue to follow Rosanne’s journey and her pursuit of justice. To hear their stories in their own words, watch the full interview with Rosanne and Dan on our website.
