Winnipeg Police Release
On June 12, 2020, at 3:35 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residential building in the 300 block of Hargrave Street for a report of a stabbing (incident C20-135306).
Upon arrival, officers located an injured 60-year-old male. He was transported to hospital in stable condition. It is believed that the incident occurred when a male sought out retaliation for a broken window and came upon an unsuspecting group of people. He subsequently threatened the group and stabbed one individual.
Nicholas Leal Matos, a 19-year-old male, has been charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon (x2)
- Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm (x4)
- Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment
On June 13, 2020, at 12:24 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence in the Richmond West neighbourhood for a report of a stabbing (incident C20-135737).
Upon arrival, officers located a severely injured 17-year-old male. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition. It is believed the incident occurred after the 17-year-old attempted to rob a 14-year-old male acquaintance, who retaliated with a knife and stabbed him several times.
The 14-year-old male faces charges of:
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
The 17-year-old male faces charges of:
- Robbery (x2)
On June 14, 2020, at 1:51 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a bar in the 1600 block of Main Street for a report of a stabbing (incident C20-136793).
Upon arrival, officers located an injured 32-year-old male. He was transported to hospital in stable condition. It is believed he was stabbed while walking to the bar. The investigation is ongoing.
At 2:02 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a bar in the 1100 block or Arlington Street for a report of a male that had been shot (incident C20-136799).
Soon after, an injured 44-year-old male attended a nearby hospital. It is believed that he had been stabbed during a dispute at the bar. A firearm was discharged during the incident, but the shot is not believed to have hit anyone. The investigation is ongoing.
At 1:29 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a hotel in the 700 block of Main St for a report of a stabbing (incident C20-137107).
Upon arrival, officers located an injured 53-year-old male. He was transported to hospital in stable condition. It is believed that the male was stabbed during a robbery of money.
A 48-year-old female of Winnipeg faces charges of:
- Robbery
At 2:55 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a suite of a different hotel in the 700 block of Main Street for a report of a stabbing (incident C20-136238).
Upon arrival, officers located an injured 46-year-old male. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition. It is believed the incident occurred over an allegation of stolen illicit drugs.
A 39-year-old male faces charges of:
- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of a Weapon
A 27-year-old female faces charges of:
- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of a Weapon
At 9:17 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence in the first 100 block of St. George Road for a report of a stabbing (incident C20-136555).
Soon after, a 34-year-old male attended a nearby hospital with serious injuries. It is believed that the male was stabbed when he and a group of individuals attempted a home invasion over illicit drugs.
The 34-year-old male faces charges of:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon
- Break Enter & Commit Robbery - Dwelling House
A 33-year-old male faces charges of:
- Break Enter & Commit Robbery - Dwelling House
- Theft Under $5000 (x3)
The resident, a 43-year-old male, faces charges of:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Possession for the Purpose of Selling Cannabis (Cannabis Act)
On June 15, 2020, at 1:35 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Selkirk Avenue and Charles Street for a report of a stabbing (incident C20-137661).
Upon arrival, officers located a severely injured 40-year-old male. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition. It is believed the male was stabbed after being swarmed by a group of individuals. The investigation is ongoing.
At 5:02 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence in the 500 block of Ellice Avenue for a report of a stabbing (incident C20-137733).
Upon arrival, officers located an injured 47-year-old female. She was transported to hospital in unstable condition. It believed the incident occurred during a dispute with another female. A female suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
