Pickleball Courts Coming to K-W Community Centre

WINNIPEG, MB. - A commitment I made two years ago during the campaign was to ensure we allocated ward funds to improve and enhance our community parks.

I'm very proud that with the help of residents and our team at the City of Winnipeg Parks, we completed several park upgrades in 2020. I reallocated over $250,000 in ward funds last summer through various project grants and to City Parks for work.

There is more work to be done in 2021, and if you noticed an area that needs a little extra care, please bring it to my attention.

In recent months I have spoken with several community members regarding the potential of adding some Pickleball Courts' to our community. Pickleball continues to grow in popularity and has amplified as we navigate the pandemic and public health restrictions'.

I am pleased to announce that the tennis courts at Kirkfiled-Westwood Community Centre will be resurfaced this year with official added pickleball lines. This project's funding is through my office ward funds with additional funding support from my St James colleague Councillor Gillingham who has several residents who enjoy using the tennis courts at KW.

Every Councillor has access to Ward specific grants. I view these funds as your money, which I should allocate to enhancing our community's quality of life.

Let's get these funds working for all of us. If your community or resident group has a particular project that could use support, please call me at 204 986 5232 or email kevin@kevinklein.ca.
