I am searching for a new Aide/Assistant to help serve the residents of Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood and Winnipeg. Position details are below.
Qualities we are seeking politically engaged individual with a strong attention to detail.
The Political Aide will support the councillor with administrative tasks, policy research, manage constituent and program files, scheduling and offer general support to the team.
Position is full time. Salary range is 37,000- 45,000 annually. Salary to be negotiated based on skills and experience.
Responsibilities
Provide clerical and administrative assistance
Prepare, type, format and proofread communications
Manage appointment calendar
Provide research on a variety of political issues
Prepare and provide briefing notes
Update and maintain spreadsheets, databases and other documents
Monitor, track and enter data on various projects/files
Coordinate meeting requirements and follow up.
Ability to adjust schedule with consideration to shifting priorities
Handle sensitive and confidential information
Perform research and data collection
Respond to inquiries both in person and over the phone
Demonstrated ability and flexibility to develop new skills, perform new skills and adapt to new technology (learning databases and systems)
Organization of files, actions, motions, resident concerns, community activities
Liaise with internal staff at all levels

Strong research skills and analytical capacity with the ability to become familiar with new topics quickly
Interest and passion for civic politics
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks with competing requests

Use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Relevant studies and/or professional experience in government and policy development are considered an asset.
